Solid fuel - firewood - category a, various species

STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS:

STAS 2340-80 (category A - shaped wood laid in stacks and doubles - hardwood hardwood stacks).
This standard refers to wood of any species resulting from forestry operations and from cutting off the excess lengths of logs, intended for fuel, called firewood.
Firewood is divided as follows:
- category A includes shaped wood laid in stacks and doubles - hardwood hardwood stacks, with a maximum of 10% softwood or softwood wood;
- hardwood hardwood stacks, with a maximum of 10% wood with a thickness of 5 cm at the thin end, split (lobed): max. 30 cm face width.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Firewood must be cut to 30 cm in length and split/cracked to a maximum thickness of 20 cm. It must also be placed on pallets so that it can be measured upon delivery.

ANOMALIES AND DEFECTS:
- Firewood of all categories may have all anomalies and defects, except for brittle and fibrous rot.

SHAPING:
- Firewood may remain with the bark, partially or completely peeled, as resulting from exploitation.
- Firewood shaped into steri and double-steri must have the stumps cut to the face of the wood.
- The ends of the firewood must be sawn off, except for breaks and the end coming from the stump.

MOISTURE:
- The moisture content of firewood in categories A is established indirectly in relation to the weight of the stack, as shown below.
- The weight of firewood in categories A, at the time of delivery by the producer or distributor, must not exceed, at a cubic factor of 0.62 m³.
