Forsvarsbygg (the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency) operates the energy plant at Kjevik Leir in Kristiansand that is powered by fuel briquettes. The plant has one buried silo that has a capacity to hold 2 x 15 tonne of briquettes, altogether approx. 90 m3. The fuel briquettes are tipped from vehicles into the silo.
The plant`s construction places high demands on the quality of the briquettes, with little fine matter in the deliveries and the possibility of minor local adjustments in density.
The annual volume is estimated to be approx. 552 tonne/year with a fuel-value of 4.7 KWh /kg. This is an estimate based on the average during the last 3 years, and fluctuations may occur. The main period for delivery is usually from November to April.
