200 cbm Premium Construction-Grade ABIES ALBA (WHITE FIR, also called EUROPEAN SILVER FIR) – 80–100 Years Old, Resin-Free, Black Forest Origin
We offer an exceptional lot of ABIES ALBA (WHITE FIR, also called EUROPEAN SILVER FIR) timber sourced from the renowned Schuttertal region (Picture 1) in the Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg, Germany). This material stands out through its rare combination of age, stability, and immaculate quality, making it ideal for high-end construction, restoration, and interior projects.
Origin Quality
Harvested from 80–100-year-old ABIES ALBA (WHITE FIR, also called EUROPEAN SILVER FIR) trees growing at an elevation of approximately 750 meters on a north-facing slope in the Schuttertal valley, this wood benefits from naturally slow growth conditions.
The cooler climate, reduced sunlight exposure, and higher humidity at this altitude lead to the formation of denser annual rings, resulting in:
tighter grain (Picture 2)
higher mechanical strength
enhanced durability
exceptional structural integrity
These characteristics make timber from this region particularly valuable, especially for construction, restoration, and specialty woodworking.
The Schuttertal area is known for its moderate climate, fertile forest soils, and a long-standing forestry tradition that contributes to producing some of Germany’s finest coniferous timber.
Originally selected for the restoration of the world’s only wooden airship hall, this lot was ultimately not required—creating a unique opportunity to acquire museum-grade material.
The initial buyer enjoys privileges reserved exclusively for those who decide first — advantages that cannot be extended to others.
Timber of this provenance is offered with priority: the first to commit receives benefits beyond the reach of those who follow.
???? Processing Preservation
Naturally air dried for 15 years in ventilated halls (since 2009), ensuring extraordinary dimensional stability and minimal internal tension.
Impregnated with WOLFSIT, providing long-term protection and increased resistance.
Completely resin-free, a defining characteristic of ABIES ALBA (WHITE FIR, also called EUROPEAN SILVER FIR) and a major advantage over spruce.
Wood Characteristics
Color: Light yellowish-white, uniform, with minimal contrast between heartwood and sapwood.
Density: Approx. 450 kg/m³, providing a medium-weight yet highly stable construction wood.
Grain: Straight, fine, and clean—naturally free of resin canals, ensuring a stain-free and elegant surface.
Performance Advantages in Construction
ABIES ALBA (WHITE FIR, also called EUROPEAN SILVER FIR) from the Black Forest is valued by builders and craftsmen for its:
Outstanding dimensional stability – resists warping and twisting
Higher moisture resistance than spruce
Resin-free structure – ideal for visible surfaces, interior applications, and restoration work
Excellent workability – easy to cut, plane, screw, and glueExklusives Angebot: 200 m³ Premium-Holz der Abies alba (Europäische Weißtanne) – Museumsqualität
Traditional, clean appearance – widely used in Black Forest architecture for beams, roof structures, façades, and fine carpentry
