EU Implements Anti-Dumping Measures on Chinese Wood Products

As of January 2025, the European Union (EU) has enforced provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of multilayered wood flooring from China. These measures, with duties ranging from 42.3% to 49.2%, aim to counteract unfair pricing practices that have adversely affected the EU`s wood industry.

The European Commission initiated this action following a formal complaint by the European Parquet Federation (FEP), representing major EU producers. The investigation revealed significant dumping margins, prompting the Commission to implement these duties to restore fair competition within the EU market.

In addition to multilayered wood flooring, the EU has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of hardwood plywood from China. Concerns have been raised that these imports are sold at artificially low prices, undermining European producers and violating fair trade practices. The investigation, expected to last up to 14 months, may lead to further duties if preliminary findings support the claims.

These measures are part of the EU`s broader strategy to protect its domestic wood industry from unfair trade practices. The Commission has also implemented customs registration for imports of multilayered wood flooring from China since October 2024, allowing for possible retroactive application of anti-dumping measures.

Industry professionals should be aware of these developments, as they may impact sourcing strategies and pricing structures. Staying informed about trade regulations is crucial for maintaining compliance and competitive advantage in the evolving market landscape.
