Elia Vismara Designated to Lead FederlegnoArredo for 2026 - 2030

FederlegnoArredo has designated Elia Vismara as candidate for the presidency of the Federation for the 2026 - 2030 term, opening the final phase of the leadership renewal process within one of Italy`s most important wood and furniture industry organizations.

The formal election is expected to take place during the FederlegnoArredo General Assembly scheduled for the end of October 2026. If confirmed, Vismara will succeed Claudio Feltrin as president of the Federation.

Vismara is the CEO and legal representative of Vismaravetro and has significant experience within the FederlegnoArredo system. He served as president of Assobagno from 2020 until the 2026 renewal of the association`s governance, giving him direct experience in representing companies operating across the Italian furniture and interior-design supply chain.

A new leadership cycle for the Italian wood and furniture industry

The change at the top of FederlegnoArredo comes during a period of significant transformation for the European wood industry, furniture sector and timber supply chain.

Italian and European companies continue to face a combination of challenges including raw material costs, pressure on margins, changing export demand, increasingly complex European regulations, sustainability requirements and growing competition in international markets.

At the same time, the Italian wood-furniture system remains strongly export-oriented, making international trade conditions, construction activity, consumer demand and access to competitive raw materials particularly important for companies throughout the supply chain.

For wood processors, furniture manufacturers, panel producers, timber traders and companies involved in construction with wood, the next FederlegnoArredo presidency will therefore coincide with a period in which competitiveness, internationalization, regulatory simplification and market intelligence are likely to remain central issues.

Vismara has indicated that, if confirmed, his objective will be to put his experience within the Federation at the service of the broader association system and to develop a team capable of translating strategic priorities into concrete actions for the different parts of the wood-furniture supply chain.

Governance renewal across FederlegnoArredo

The presidential transition follows a broader renewal of the Federation`s associations for the 2026–2030 period.

In the furniture area, Denise Archiutti was elected president of Assarredo, Mattia Fiorindo became president of Assobagno, Nicola Franceschi took over Assufficio and Paolo Montanaro became president of Assotende. Carlo Urbinati was confirmed at Assoluce and Marco Fogarolo at Asal-Assoallestimenti.

The wood-sector associations have also renewed or confirmed their leadership. Among them, Daniele Servadio was elected president of Assolegno, Stefano Corà took over Fedecomlegno, while Paolo Fantoni was confirmed at Assopannelli and Andrea Gava at Assoimballaggi.

This governance renewal provides the Federation with a new leadership structure at a time when companies are increasingly required to coordinate strategies across wood sourcing, processing, furniture production, construction, exports and sustainability.

Market intelligence becomes increasingly important

For professionals operating across the European wood sector, changes in industry representation need to be considered alongside the broader development of the market.

In 2026, companies continue to monitor the relationship between timber supply, raw material costs, sawn wood prices, furniture demand, construction activity and international trade flows.

A broader overview of current market conditions is available in the Wood Market in 2026: Romania and Europe – Prices, Demand and Industry Trends, which examines developments in raw material prices, demand, production, imports and exports.

Companies exposed to timber procurement can also follow European log prices and lumber market trends, including the growing pressure created by high raw material costs and cautious demand for processed wood products.

Outlook for 2026–2030

The next four years are likely to be important for the Italian wood and furniture sector. European environmental legislation, the evolution of international trade, construction demand, access to raw materials and the ability of manufacturers to maintain competitive production costs will directly influence the performance of the industry.

The new FederlegnoArredo leadership will therefore have to represent a highly diversified supply chain ranging from forestry, timber trading and primary wood processing to panels, construction products, furniture, lighting and interior systems.

For companies operating in these markets, combining institutional developments with reliable data on wood prices, timber trade, imports, exports, production and demand will remain essential for commercial and investment decisions.
